United Farm Workers Response to President Bush Immigration Address
President Bush’s immigration announcement is empty. It offers no new path for hard-working immigrants to earn a green card. There is a better way—a bipartisan approach. We hope the President will consider moving beyond his principles to concrete steps that deal equitably with the dilemmas facing immigrants, their families and employers—real solutions like the AGJOBS bill, S. 1645. This detailed bipartisan legislation is before Congress now and it is strongly backed by the leaders of both parties in each house of Congress as well as the labor, employer and immigrant-rights communities. We hope the President won’t stay on the sidelines any longer.
