The UFW hails today’s approval by the U.S. House of Representatives of the Dream and Promise Act, H.R. 6, the first time in nine years a bill with any chance of passage was up for a vote in the House. It now goes to the U.S. Senate. H.R. 6 would benefit Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or Dreamers, individuals with temporary protected status (TPS) because they are escaping catastrophe, and those with deferred enforced departure (DED) who are fleeing dangerous conditions and have become contributing members of U.S. society. By relentlessly attacking Dreamers and other immigrants the Trump administration has attempted to crush the dreams of hundreds of thousands of of deserving young people and others whose only sin is making important contributions to this nation. Seventy-seven percent of American voters agree it’s time to protect Dreamers Senators should immediately take up and pass the Dream and Promise Act. #DreamAndPromiseNow
